"Alphabet" is one of the most iconic books of the publishing house, and it is where the history of the "A-BA-BA-HA-LA-MA-HA" publishing house began. This edition of the "Alphabet" was simply superbly illustrated by Kostiantyn Lavro — the chief artist of the publishing house. His native and already classic images touch and enchant for a lifetime. It seems that they have existed forever and that it was about Lavro's bunnies and kittens that were sung over our cradles... The book includes popular poems known to many generations of Ukrainian children, as well as new works. The book was compiled by Ivan Malkovych.
"Abetka" achieved a whole series of competition victories in its time: the Grand Prix named after Ivan Fedorov at the "Art of the Book" competition; the first prize at the Publishers' Forum of Ukraine (1999), the title of "Best Children's Publication of 1999" at the "Book of the Year" and others.
Many of our readers sincerely consider this book to be the best Ukrainian "Alphabet" since Narbut. Every year, the publishing house releases a new edition of its branded "Alphabet." Often, these editions differ from each other only by tiny nuances, such as a slightly altered illustration, a changed or edited poem.
"The Alphabet" is recommended for teaching in preschool institutions of Ukraine.
The total circulation of previous editions of "Abetka" exceeds 350 thousand copies.
At the end of the book — a spread with the English alphabet. The book is made of thick cardboard.
