Oleksandr Dovzhenko (1894—1956) was a Ukrainian Soviet film director, the founder of poetic cinema, the creator of a new literary genre — film stories. Dovzhenko directed 14 feature and documentary films, wrote 15 literary scripts and screenplays, two plays, an autobiographical novel, and more than 20 short stories.
This edition included the film stories "Enchanted Desna", "Ukraine on Fire", which became masterpieces of Ukrainian literature, some short stories, as well as an impressive document of the time - "Diary. 1941—1956", which describes historical events witnessed by Dovzhenko.
